Why did the British decide to interfere in a French political campaign? The real answer was given to me in April 1986, during the Carrefour du Développement scandal, by one of my former stringers a financial intelligence specialist who had a long career in Africa. This is how I got to know that an electoral campaign of Mr. Aurillac (former socialist Minister) had been funded by a rich person living in Ivory Coast. Numerous French companies especially the ones selling arms pay an unofficial tax to the political party in power, to buy peace and quiet from the Government and the Ministry of Finance. This tax in fact, a percentage of sales were received by screen companies based in the United Kingdom, in Switzerland, in Luxembourg, in Gibraltar, etc
. He could say that the funds I saw came from one of those. And to convince me, he mentioned names of several treasurers of the Socialist Party abroad, including the one of a Swiss attorney I had the occasion to meet for another matter (note: whose name is Suzanne Wolf, we will speak about in a later article). Mr. Laignel, the former treasurer of the socialist party, the current Secretary of State for Professional Training, could swear that his books were not fraudulent foreign money was not even mentioned in them.
So, this is why politicians, these reps of death, visits and corrupt various third world country leaders to get them to buy arms they dont need or should not own as far as international security is concerned: because they have to get themselves re-elected to maintain their little personal power and the privileges which are attached to it ; because they need to buy a luxurious little villa for their mistress ; or they have a much darker personal agenda and they take advantage of the system to fight their own war.
